The School of Journalism will host Kansas Editors Day on
Sept. 10. The program will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Alderson
Auditorium at the Kansas Union. Kathleen Carroll, executive
editor and senior vice president of the Associated Press,
will be the featured speaker.
The program precedes the Kansas-Appalachian State football
game at 6 p.m in Memorial Stadium. KU Chancellor Robert Hemenway
will host a pre-game buffet for invited guests at 3:30 p.m.
at his residence, 1532 Lilac Lane.
Carroll was named executive editor of the AP in 2002 and
senior vice president in 2003. She returned to the AP after
six years with Knight Ridder where she was a bureau chief
supervising Knight Ridder's Washington coverage and its overseas
reporting. As the AP's executive editor, Carroll helps the
news agency face the challenges of helping newspapers increase
readership, as well as providing up-to-date reports for broadcast
and new media.
