KU School of Journalism Position Opening

Stauffer Professor of Journalism and Mass Communications

The School of Journalism invites nominations and applications for this position.  The Stauffer Professor will be an eminent scholar with a Ph.D. in journalism or a related field, a prolific and active researcher and will hold the rank and tenure of a full professor. 
Areas of expertise might include media effects, public opinion, new/multi-media, race and gender issues, visual communication, health communication, political communication, strategic communication and international/intercultural communication. A social scientist is preferred, but all research methods/approaches will be considered. Research in issues related to diversity, or experience in working with a diverse population, is preferred but not required.

The School is a national leader in curriculum innovation with more than 20 full-time faculty members. We offer two tracks of studies, news/information and strategic communications, at the undergraduate level. The School is one of several independent professional schools in a Research I university with a well-established master’s program.  We are actively pursuing a doctoral program in journalism and mass communication, and this new colleague will play an important role in its growth and development.
