“I am impressed at how relaxed people can be while staying so focused on research and teaching. And they do it all with a smile. This campus is energizing.”
Amber McCullough, systems specialist, “fell in love with KU and its traditions” when she walked down the hill in 2004 after completing the MBA program. Three years later in 2007, with eight years of experience in Web development and three years in Web and systems administration, McCullough was excited to get back to her alma mater.
“It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever worked and working here energizes me,” said McCullough.
McCullough serves as system administrator for servers at the William Allen White School of Journalism. This includes backing up servers, monitoring server traffic and security, and keeping operating system software up-to-date and secure. She also documents all system maintenance and backup processes, and creates and manages appropriate user accounts on J-School servers. In addition, she makes recommendations and assists with improvements to the various J-School websites.
McCullough has previously worked for Butler Manufacturing, Sprint, Kansas City Kansas Community College and Meridian IQ.
McCullough earned her bachelor of music in 1995 from the State University of New York at Potsdam. She also holds a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification from the Project Management Institute.
