Callahan holds undergraduate degrees in English, philosophy and journalism from KU, as well as a law degree.

She has taught editing at the J-School since 2001 and has worked as an editor on a daily newspaper since 1998.

Currently she is a copy editor at the Lawrence Journal-World.
