Was awarded a general research fund grant by KU in April to conduct interviews for a study of a culturally-sensitive marketing campaign that introduced Tropical brand fruit drink in Costa Rica.
Richard Musser
Was awarded a mini-grant of $5,000 by WaterLINK to direct an environmental reporting project in summer 2006 in partnership with The Lawrence Journal-World. His summer class will develop articles on water issues in Douglas County.
Douglas Ward
Was awarded a new faculty research grant in April to support his work on “A New Brand of Business: Curtis Publishing and the origins of market research.”
Charles Marsh
--Received a sabbatical leave for fall 2006 to complete a book, “Classical Greek Rhetoric and Modern Public Relations.”
--Received both the Kemper Fellowship from the University and the HOPE Award from the KU senior class during 2005-2006.
Max Utsler
--Received an Educator in the Newsroom Fellowship from the Radio Television News Directors Association to report for WEEK-TV in Peoria, Illinois, during July 2006.
--Received a Faculty Fellowship to attend the National Association of Television Programming Executives conference in January, 2006, in Las Vegas.
Utsler and Bob Basow were chosen by the KU Center for Teaching Excellence to participate in its Faculty Seminar in fall 2006.
