On Aug. 15, 35 incoming and continuing graduate students in journalism on the Edwards and Lawrence campuses, as well as 16 journalism faculty members, attended a graduate student orientation and social.

Incoming students arrived at 6 p.m. for a special introductory session that covered topics including a virtual campus tour, an overview of each program’s core curriculum, J-School resources, Kyou computer system, KU survival tips, graduate assistantships, active areas of faculty scholarship, and thesis/project/committee information.

Continuing graduate students joined in at 7 p.m. for the social and the opportunity to meet with fellow students and faculty members, and to meet Dr. David Perlmutter, the J-School's new Associate Dean for Graduate Studies & Research.
